About his future, Spengler mentioned that it's hard to predict where he'll end up in two or three years. He did confirm that he will be back with the
same team for 2007, adding that he also has an option for 2008. Beyond that, ''we'll see! All I want now is to focus on next season.''
Like all the other talented drivers out there, Bruno dreams about joining an F1 team. At the same time, he told us that he wouldn't mind spending the rest of his career in the DTM series, à la Schneider. ''I have lots of fun in DTM and I'm very well supported by my team.''
His popularity skyrocketed this year following his victories and Vice-Champion title. How does that affect him? ''It's not so bad. A lot more people want to talk to me now, like the medias and sponsors. That's fantastic. I'm particularly appreciative of my fan club. They watch every single one of my races. They wear red and white T-shirts and wave a giant Canadian flag in front of my pits. They're incredible.''
The most interesting part of the interview was when Mr. Fagnan tried to find out whether or not Bruno had been invited to take part in test drives for a Formula One team. Each time, the gentleman gave the same answer: ''Excuse me, could you repeat the question, please?'' or ''I don't understand your question''.
Spengler had the last word, which pleased the people in attendance. They had the opportunity to meet and listen to a young Canadian driver who's headed toward even greater successes, no matter what series he's racing in.
Without a doubt, the organizers of the banquet were wise to ask Spengler to be the honorary guest -- and lucky he accepted the invitation despite his busy schedule. Congratulations, Bruno, for all your talent, your personality, your success. We wish you a long career filled with shining moments! Rest assured we'll keep following your rise to the top in the next few years!
