At the heart of the Cielo's PVA system is an Intelligent Data Bus (DNB) that provides a network for connecting consumer electronic products such as navigation and anti-theft devices, PDAs, pagers and wireless communications devices to each other and to other vehicles.
Roger Adams, Buick's general manager, says ''the reconfigurable IDB network allows consumers to easily add new information, entertainment and communications technology to their vehicle as it's developed."
The other devices that are key to the Regal Cielo's PVA system include a Sony Memory Stick for data transfer, and the voice-activated controls for the retractable roof, the PDA, the entertainment system, and the cell phone.
Just so the people in the back don't feel left out, the Cielo PVA has also been given a rear-mounted audio/video system that alows passengers toplug in a video game pltrform or play a DVD movie.
The portable, self-contained seat-top box installs by securing the unit with the middle seatbelt and plugging it into the rear seat power outlet. The 7-inch color display flips up for viewing and folds flat for storage, while a special storage space keeps headphones, game cartridges and other accessories out of the way.
