Premium electric car enthusiasts, rejoice! Tesla Motors is now taking reservations in Canada for the luxurious and environmentally-friendly Model S sedan, with deliveries beginning in mid-2012.
Interested buyers can pre-order their Model S online by making a $5,000 deposit. The official manufacturer's suggested retail price (MSRP) has yet to be announced, however.
The new car from Tesla reaches 100 km/h in less than 6 seconds and offers three range options, including 260, 370 and 480 kilometres.
Only 5,000 units will be built in 2012 before annual production ramps up to 20,000 units the year after. The company plans to open a store in Toronto in the near future, adding to its roster of 18 showrooms around the world.
