Cars of legend at the 50th Historic Grand Prix of Nogaro

The circuit of Nogaro, located in the Gers region in France (gastronomic region par excellence…) celebrated its 50th anniversary and staged an extraordinary event, the 50th Historic Grand Prix.

If the circuit is not very well known, it has been the scene of the some epic battles in Formula 2, Formula 3, Formula 3000, French national series and the road circuit was also a popular testing destination of the F1 teams back in the ‘80s and ‘90s.

Several categories were in action last weekend such as the Trophée Maxi 1000 / Trophée Mini Classic, Challenge Formula Ford Historic, Trophée Lotus, Formula Junior and Trophée F3 / Formule Renault Classic that featured the 1978 Martini Renault F3 of Alain Prost as well as the Lotus 69 of Emerson Fittipaldi.

Sedan cars were also featured with, amongst others the Group 1 Tourism Champion cars with stunning cars such as the Ford Capri, BMW 635, Triumph Dolomite and Ford Escort RS.

The feature event was undoubtedly the FIA Historic Formula One Championship.

Bobby Verdon-Roe, behind the wheel of the gorgeous McLaren MP4/1B (ex-Niki Lauda) managed to keep at bay Japanese Katsu Kubota in a Williams FW07C (ex-Keke Rosberg). British driver Peter Meyrick (March 761) finished third.
