General Motors announced this morning that it will be presenting a new concept car at the 2008 Mondial de l'Automobile de Paris; the seven-passenger crossover has been dubbed Chevrolet Orlando.

In creating the Orlando, Chevrolet wanted to produce a vehicle combining the versatility of an SUV, a minivan and a van. The Orlando will be integrating a new market segment already populated by the Mazda5 and the Kia Rondo. With its 2,760 mm, the Orlando's wheelbase is the longest of the bunch.

The Orlando was designed on the Chevrolet Cruze's platform, a compact sedan recently introduced by the American manufacturer. It's powered by a 4-cylinder turbo engine producing 150 hp and 236 lb-ft of torque.

GM hasn't released any details concerning the future commercialization of this vehicle.
