Chicago 2011: Ram unveils the Tradesman pickup

Several manufacturers lifted the veil on new variants of their models at the 2011 Chicago Auto Show, and Ram is no exception with the introduction of the Tradesman, a pickup designed for contractors and commercial fleets.

In concrete terms, the Tradesman is a 1500 ST equipped with a 5.7-litre HEMI producing 390 hp and 407 ft-lb of torque, coupled with a 5-speed automatic transmission. A 4x4 version is also available, as is a choice of short (6 foot 4) or long (8 foot) beds.

As for equipment, the Tradesman features a class IV hitch, heavy-duty engine and oil cooling systems as well as exclusive 17-inch steel wheels.

The pickup is delivered standard with a 160-amp alternator, a full-size spare tire, a 3.55 axle ratio, a 700-amp battery, a locking tailgate, rear wheel well liners and a Sentry Key theft deterrent system.

Canadian pricing has not yet been released.
