Overall standings leader of the 2012 Dakar rally raid, Stephane Peterhansel (MINI) won today's Stage 11 that ran between Arica, Chile and Arequipa, Peru. That stage was 478km long for the cars.

But later yesterday night, the stewards ruled that American Robby Gordon should be disqualified from the race because his Hummer's engine air intake did not conform to race regulations.

Gordon has appealed against this decision. During appeals, decisions are placed on hold. As a result, the No. 303 Hummer will continue the rally until the outcome of the appeal.

Meanwhile, Peterhansel won Stage 11, covering the distance in 3h56m53s in his MINI.

Spaniard Nani Roma, also driving a MINI, arrived in second place, 3m44 down to Peterhansel.

Leal Do Santos completed the MINI domination by finishing third. South African Giniel de Villiers was fourth in his Toyota, beating Russian Leonid Novitskiy (MINI).

Peterhansel continues to lead the overall standings ahead of Roma and De Villiers.
