Daytona 24: First Pirelli tires test on Tuesday at DIS

Twenty-four teams have already registered for next Tuesday and Wednesday's tests at the Daytona International Speedway. It will be the first test with the 2010 Pirelli Tires on.

Ten Daytona Prototypes cars and 14 GT cars have already confirmed their participation to this day of preparation for another edition of the mythic  24hours of Daytona coming up in January.

Team Action Express Racing will be racing for the first time on those days with Terry Borcheller and Joao Barbosa at the wheel of the No. 9 Porsche Riley. Turner Motorsport returns in the Rolex Series too. Bill Auberlen should be driving the No. 94 BMW M6. Max Hyatt & Thomas Merrill (No. 32) will also be testing an M6.

Defending Rolex 24 champions David Donohue and Darren Law will be sharing the No. 59 car with five-time Rolex 24 winner Hurley Haywood.

Buddy Rice & Antonio Garcia (No. 90 Porsche Coyote), Derek Johnston & Guy Cosmo (No. 09 Porsche Coyote), Scott Pruett (No. 01 BMW powered Ganassi Racing Riley car), Mark Patterson & Ricky Taylor & Michael Valiante (No. 6 Ford Riley), Ozz Negri & John Pew (No. 60 Ford Riley), Brian Frisselle & Wayne Taylor & Max Angelelli (No. 10 Ford Dallara), Nic Jonsson & Tracy Krohn (No.75 Ford Lola), Memo Gidley & Brad Jaeger & Michel Jourdain (No. 77 Ford Dallara) will also be in Daytona Prototypes next week.

In GT, Andrew Davis & Robin Liddell will test Stevenson Motorsports’ new No. 97 Camaro. Patrick Dempsey & Joe Foster (No. 40), Emil Assentato & Nick Longhi & Jeff Segal & Sylvain Tremblay (No. 69), Jordan Taylor & Jade Buford (No. 30), Will Nonnamaker & Joe Sahlen (No. 42) and Joe & Wayne Nonnamaker (No. 43) will all be testing Mazda RX-8s.

Andy Lally & Tim George Jr. & Spencer Pumpelly (No. 67), Seith Neiman & Thomas Sadler & Mark Thomas & Johannes van Overbeek (No. 66) and Peter Bassett & David Fry (No. 68) will be in Daytona for Team TRG, driving Porsche GT3s. John Potter & Craig Stanton (No. 44), Shane Lewis & Richard Zahn (No. 17) and Bob Doyle & Tim Evans & Bruce Ledoux & David Quinlan (No. 18) will also be driving Porsche on Tuesday and Wednesday.

Fan can access the Sprint Fan Zone and garage for only $10 this week as a way to promote the Daytona 500 Experience. The Oldfield Grandstand will also be open for free.
