DCX prices Power Wagon, Rubicon and launches Signature Series

As well as releasing MSRPs for two of its new models, Chrysler Canada has announced the creation of a Signature Series option for some of its Chrysler-branded models to ''further establish premium positioning in the marketplace.''

So, for 2005, the Signature Series (featuring the handwriting of W. P. Chrysler) will be available as an extra on the Chrysler 300 Touring (for $760), Sebring Touring Sedan ($445) and PT Cruiser Limited ($925).

The all-new 2005 Dodge Ram Power Wagon will start at $42,090 for the Regular Cab model with the six-speed manual or $43,535 with the automatic. In the Quad Cab configuration, the Dodge Ram Power Wagon will have an MSRP of $45,285 with the six-speed manual, or $46,730 with the automatic.

Both automatic models of the Ram Power Wagon will be available this fall, with the manual versions coming early in 2005.

In the Jeep lineup, the TJ Unlimited Rubicon will retail for $33,250, which puts it at the top of the TJ price sheet, surpassing the SE at $22,910, the Unlimited at $29,395 and the Rubicon at $31,890.

On top of these prices, like all other car companies Chrysler Canada also likes to add a ''destination'' charge, which can go beyond $1,000. They like to make out like it's some kind of a mandatory fee that the consumer has to pay, but it isn't. All costs are negotiable, including the ''destination'' fee.

Except for the addition of the touring suspension on the PT Cruiser, all of the features on the three Signature Series models are cosmetic. The option is available in many colors, but there's also a special Linen Gold available only on the Signature Series models.

Along with the W.P. Chrysler badge, the 300 Touring gets 17-inch chrome clad wheels, and two-tone leather-trimmed seats.

The Sebring Touring sedan gets the Signature Series badging, the two-tone leather-trimmed seats, a leather steering wheel and shifter, audio controls on the steering wheel, 16-inch chrome-clad wheels, a chrome exhaust, satin-silver instrument panel badges, and bodyside mouldings with a chrome insert.

The PT Cruiser gets the special suspension and the badging, as well as 16-inch chrome-clad wheels, a leather steering wheel, and chrome grille accents.

''Walter P. Chrysler founded Chrysler Corporation in Canada nearly eighty years ago,'' says Ron Smith, vice-president of marketing for DaimlerChrysler Canada, adding that the Signature Series models are ''a fitting tribute to his vision and leadership.''
