Once in a while, it's important to take a step back from the product, however impressive, and soak in how the brand itself is presenting itself. In the past year or two, some makes have made huge efforts in their displays and booths.
Over the last 18 months or so, Ford has really stood out as one of the brands striving to make auto shows a more entertaining place to visit. Ford's 2011 Detroit Auto show booth was perhaps the most enticing of the entire show floor.
Literally, you could spend a half hour just walling around, keeping yourself amused or blown away by such attractions as a rolling road, testing out a Boss 302 Mustang or stopping and stepping in line to play some games.
Amongst other distractions, Ford's playground booth featured Ken Block's Fiesta, an electric race car track, many lovely women and a convertible C-Max hanging from a wall. They even had a huge circular track on which an electric Transit Connect and Focus would drive around.
