MINI is pursued the Detroit show's streak of unveilings by lifting the covers off of its Paceman Concept.

Built on the same platform as the Countryman, the resemblance between the Paceman and the latter is striking. Dimensions between the two models are pretty similar despite the concept presented today only boasting two doors.

Speaking of dimensions, the Paceman is one centimetre longer and 2 centimetres lower than its four-door stablemate. The vehicle is equipped with a turbocharged 1.6-litre engine that develops 211 horsepower and 192 pound-feet of torque (same as in the John Cooper Works MINIs) as well as all-wheel drive.

With a four-passenger seating capacity, this small crossover would be a direct rival to the Range Rover Evoque.

The Paceman Concept presented in Detroit is probably ready for production, but MINI might not want to confirm any plans for now. That way, the brand can gauge the public's interest at the show, and decide afterwards if they should green-light it for sale or not.
