Make it happen through the Classic Car Travel program

If you’re a fan of Mercedes-Benz, and particularly its legendary SL model in its several incarnations over the years, consider the appeal of taking one on a road trip through one of Europe’s beautiful corners. Last year the automaker launched a program offering once-in-a-lifetime excursions on some of the most breathtaking routes to be found on the Old Continent.

In partnership with Munich-based company Nostalgic, Daimler Business Innovation introduced Classic Car Travel, which allowed drivers to make an unforgettable journey in a classic SL car.

Three itineraries are available:

  • -    The South of France, more precisely Provence and the Côte d’Azur, where you’ll discover magnificent seaside cities like Cannes and Monaco;
  •
  • -    Italy and its celebrated Tuscany region, dotted by vineyards and home to world-renowned cuisine;
  •
  • -    Germany, the birthplace of the automobile; this trip includes stops at locations that marked the history of Mercedes-Benz.

Explained the program’s project manager Thomas Eisenbarth, "There are lots of people who dream of spending their holiday touring in a classic sports car like the SL, but who balk at the expense of purchasing and maintaining a vehicle like that. With 'Classic Car Travel' you can now enjoy the experience of driving a classic car along some of Europe's dream routes without actually owning your own classic”.

In all, a dozen Mercedes SL models of the W 113 (1963-1971) and R 107 (1971-1989) generations are available as part of the program. Plus, participants will trade cars over the course of the trip so that they can try out different versions.

Per-person cost for this excellent European adventure is 1,975 Euros, based on double occupancy. For more information, visit the Mercedes-Benz Classic Car Travel program website.
