Canadian Bruno Spengler once again demonstrated how at ease he is on the Norisring circuit where one of the most popular DTM race will be held this week-end. Spengler has won there twice; in '06 and '07. The AMG Mercedes pilot finished the day with the overall best time.
The Mercedes squad was also up to what was expected as they took four of the Top 5 spots. Spengler's teammates Bernd Schneider, Jamie Green took respectively second and fifth place, while Gary Paffett from the Stern team took third.
While Audi dominated in the morning practice, only champion Mattias Ekstrom managed to put his car among the frontrunners in the afternoon.
