Canadian race car driver Bruno Spengler drove the new 2009 C-Class Mercedes-Benz to first place overall in the third and final day of the DTM official test held at Circuit Dijon-Prenois in France.

Teams and drivers had to cope today with the forecasted change of weather. The rain began falling as early as in the night and the track was wet during most of the day.

Mercedes-Benz driver Paul di Resta set the fastest time in the morning (1:20.888), beating Spengler was just 0.062 sec.

In the afternoon, Spengler did a succession of long runs and managed to set consistent, fast lap times.

Spengler, who only drove today, traded the fastest lap time with Di Resta on several occasions, but eventually set a really good one at the end of the afternoon, beating the Scot by just 0.038 sec.

Tom Kristensen was third, half a second down to Spengler, followed by Mike Rockenfeller, Oliver Jarvis and Mattias Ekstrom, all driving Audis.

"It was a really good day of work," said Spengler to Auto123.com.

Recap of the fastest times:
Day 1, Tuesday - Oliver Jarvis, Audi A4 2008, 1:10.185
Day 2, Wednesday - Timo Scheider, Audi A4 2009, 1:09.738
