Edoardo Mortara (Audi) takes his first DTM win at Spielberg, Austria. Bruno Spengler (BMW) suffered damages on his BMW M3 after a contact at the start, and was forced to retire later in the race.

Mortara, who clinched his first pole position on Saturday, had to defend his first position during the race as championship leader Gary Paffett (Mercedes), then Martin Tomczyk’s BMW put the pressure on the Italian driver after their second pit stop.

Trying to pass Mortara, Tomczyk did touch the Italian, but in the end the german driver, who won last year’s Spielberg race, finally took second position ahead of Gary Paffett, who pulls away in front on championship classification.

It was a tough day for Bruno Spengler (BMW). The Canadian driver, who started from sixth position on the grid, was hit by Jamie Green’s Mercedes at the start. Spengler’s BMW sustained damages as a result, and suffered from a lack of speed, which forced the Canadian driver to retire later in the race.

Robert Wickens (Mercedes), the other Canadian on track, concluded the race at 13th position.

The start was chaotic, with a multiple car accident, which involved Tambay (Audi), Priaulx (BMW), Vietoris (Mercedes) and Werner (BMW). All four drivers were out in the first lap.

Mortara gave Audi by winning in Austria its first victory this season.
