Felipe Albuquerque (Audi A4) set the best performance in the first practice session in Oschersleben. Canadian driver Bruno Spengler was 10th aboard his C Class Mercedes.
Felipe Albuquerque, who drives a 2008-spec car, set his best lap in 1’22’’722, with 35 laps completed in the session. He leads Abt Audi driver Mike Rockenfeller (1’22’’962), and two other A4 driven by Miguel Molina (1’23’’194) and Timo Scheider (1’23’’339). Only one C Class Mercedes, driven by David Coulthard (5th) made it to the top 8, in a session that was clearly dominated by Audi.
Bruno Spengler was 10th, with a best performance in 1’23’’700 – almost one second off the pace -, and was the best of the HWA Mercedes drivers. His title rival Martin Tomczyk was 7th, with a lap in 1’23’’496.
The Friday session is usually used to set the car up for the race. In Oschersleben, the regularity, and the capacity to preserve the tires on a long distance are the keys for the race. That’s what the drivers and the teams worked on today.
