Current DTM champion Mattias Ekstrom (Audi) took pole position in Hockenheim and will start from the front row just ahead of the two series title contenders Paul di Resta and Timo Scheider who finished second and third.

Timo Scheider will have to constantly look back tomorrow as three AMG Mercedes drivers will start just behind him; Jamie Green having finished fourth, ahead of teammates Bernd Schneider and Bruno Spengler.

The Hockenheim race is the last one on the German touring car series schedule and the championship could be decided on the very first laps.
