Competition director Norbert Haug admitted on Wednesday that Mercedes-Benz is in talks with Bruno Senna about teaming up for the DTM championship in 2009.

With Honda said to have elected to sign Rubens Barrichello this season instead of the Brazilian's rookie countryman, the Swiss newspaper Blick recently predicted a move to the German touring car series for Senna, 25.

"There are talks but no decision," Haug, in charge of the German marque Mercedes' motor racing programmes, told the news agency SID.

Takuma Sato
Meanwhile, Takuma Sato insisted on Wednesday he is not set to become Red Bull's formula one reserve driver in 2009.

The 32-year-old veteran revealed he is "disappointed" an agreement with the energy drinks company could not be reached.

"I am no longer in negotiation with the Toro Rosso or Red Bull teams about their third driver positions," the veteran of 93 grands prix confirmed.
