Bruno Spengler has been confirmed by team Mercedes-HWA for 2011 DTM season.

Bruno Spengler will start his seventh season in DTM championship, his sixth as HWA-Mercedes driver. It will be the ninth year under the colors of the german brand, as the young Canadian driver was part of the Mercedes young driver program when he raced in F3 Euroseries in 2003 and 2004.

Spengler was DTM runner-up in 2006 and 2007. He also finished 3rd overall last year, after he led the championship for almost the whole season, and failed in the ultimate round in Shanghai.

"I am very happy to start another year with Mercedes," told Bruno Spengler Auto123.com, "and I’m looking forward to fight for the title this year again. The winter break was long, and I’m looking forward to the first race of the season in Hockenheim."

Mercedes-Benz Motorsport boss Norbert Haug explained: "At 27 years old, Bruno Spengler is still a young driver - but he's already a 'veteran' with Mercedes-Benz Motorsport in the very best sense of the word. Bruno gets better every year, and 2011 will mark our ninth year working together.

"Today, he is one of the highest-profile and most successful DTM competitors, but also one of the nicest drivers in the field - and a favourite with the fans. There is still much that Mercedes-Benz Motorsport and Bruno want to achieve together, in order to celebrate a relationship that has now lasted nearly ten years."
