The DTM’s traditional roll-out session will be reinstated at this weekend’s Lausitzring race after having been banned since the beginning of the season.

With the objective to reduce costs, the DTM’s organisers, the ITR, decided last winter to cancel the half-hour roll-out period.

This untimed session was designed to allow teams to shakedown their cars and lay down some rubber in the pit lane prior to the first official free practice session.

The new for 2013 rule meant that no cars took to the track before Saturday morning.

After being unpopular with teams and drivers, the ITR therefore decided to reinstate the roll-out this Friday.

However, the session will only last 15 minutes and the number of laps completed by each driver will be limited.

The roll-out will remain untimed.
