The race that was to end to DTM season in the streets of Shanghai in November has been cancelled due officially to a clash with the WTCC race in China.

Officially, the DTM organisers have indicated that this cancellation was due to a clash with a round of the WTCC that will be held on that same weekend in China, on the new Guangdong circuit.

But it is rumoured that the 2010 race in China was not hugely popular, as it was the first time that the DTM finale was not held in Hockenheim, Germany, as it was the case for decades.

The drivers and the teams were not enthusiastic to stage the final race so far away from the German fans.

Moreover, there were a lot of controversies about the street circuit. The pedestrian crossing lines were extremely slippery. Several cars were damaged during the free practice session and the qualifying session. A slow-speed contact with a wall also ruined the qualification of Canadian Bruno Spengler who was leading the point standings before the China race.

We can only suppose that a lot of people will be happy to see the DTM final race to be back in Hockenheim.
