DTM press release
At the Hockenheimring Baden-Württemberg, the premium-car manufacturers Audi, BMW and Mercedes-Benz are going to jointly present their 2012 DTM cars for the first time.
Within the framework of the season finale, the Audi A5 DTM, the BMW M3 DTM and the DTM AMG Mercedes C-Coupé will go out on the tradition-rich racetrack for some demonstration laps, thus providing the crowds a first taste of what they will get in 2012.
Apart from the DTM comeback of BMW, the all new DTM cars will represent the highlight of the 2012 season. When it came to the development of the new DTM cars, three conditions had to be met: increased vehicle safety, cost reduction by up to 40 percent - and a spectacular appearance. And the visitors of the season finale will have the opportunity to see that the manufacturers succeeded in achieving the latter.
So far, the three manufacturers presented their new racing cars individually. Newcomer BMW provided the public the chance of taking a first glance at the BMW M3 DTM as early as during the DTM show event in Munich, held in July. While Audi and Mercedes-Benz thrilled the visitors of the 64th International Motor Show (IAA) in Frankfurt, with their fascinating new touring cars.
