With all the hype around the governments EcoAUTO initiative and it's consumer rebates of up to $2000, you might be forgiven for thinking that the program was in full swing some time ago. It was, however, only yesterday that the application form made available to those who bought eligible vehicles starting on March 20th, 2007- much to the relief of thousands of customers.
Transport Canada and Service Canada are teaming up to deliver the rebate program, and eligible candidates are advised to check out www.ecoaction.gc.ca/ecoauto for an application form. Forms are also available by visiting the selling dealership or any Service Canada Centre. Once the form is filled out and appropriate documentation sent in, a cheque will be issued.
"The EcoAUTO Rebate Program helps Canadians to help the environment by buying more fuel-efficient vehicles," said the Honourable Lawrence Cannon, Minister of Transport, Infrastructure and Communities. "Canadian drivers are looking to lower their fuel bills. The EcoAUTO Rebate Program gives them a good way to do it, and save money on the price of a car."
A list of eligible vehicles is available on the website. The list includes many new cars with a combined fuel consumption of 6.5L / 100km or less, SUV's with combined consumption of 8.3L / 100km or less, and flex-fuel capable vehicles with a rating of 13L / 100km or less.
