The Guinness World Record for the fastest electric go kart acceleration was established on April 24 at the Motorsport Arena in Oschersleben, Germany.

The Linde E1 kart, made of a standard CRG kart chassis (fitted with front brakes) and a Linde electric motor, accelerated from 0 to 60 mph in just 3.4 seconds! The elapsed time clocked in at 3.4 seconds on the first run and 3.5 seconds on the second run.

The Linde E1 kart was produced specifically for the attempt. Its electric motor is the same as the units used in lift trucks, except that Linde E1 has a lithium ion battery while lift trucks use lead acid batteries.

It weighs 160 kg (without the driver) and the Linde BR387 electric motor produces 150Nm of torque.
