Former Audi factory driver Michèle Mouton has received honours from France's president, Nicolas Sarkozy. The brand also received similarly prestigious honours from the Royal Automobile Club de Belgique and Race Engine Technology.

For her achievements in motorsports, including a runner-up title in the 1982 World Rally Championship (WRC), and her current work as manager of the WRC, Michèle Mouton was appointed Knight of the French Legion of honour of December 21.

More recently, Audi Motorsport's diesel V6 was named 'Race engine of the year' for 2011, by Race Engine Technology magazine. Known as a particularly efficient power plant, the 540-horsepower engine propelled Audi to a tenth win in the 24 hours of Le Mans last year.

In Belgium, WRT team director Vince Vosse's work was acknowledged by the Royal Automobile Club de Belgique. Fielding Audi R8 LMS', his team won the Spa 24 hours and the Blancpain Endurance Series.
