Summer means bringing out one's treasured car. Many of the jewels you'll see in this short video are projects that were completed during the winter months, others are still ongoing.
I was a "tuner" in the late '90s and early 2000s and I'm still attracted to the scene. Officially, I'm an OG and going to the Julep brings me back to a time when it was all about the car, being original and/or being the first. Money was always an issue, but what separates me and today's crowd is the amount.
Some of the later-model VWs in this video have had tens-of-thousands of dollars thrown at them, and it shows. Others, like the amazing silver MKI Scirocco have also been on the receiving end of lots of cash, but the transformation is far more subtle.
That's the way I like it. This video features three different, old-school, tuner rods, some of my favourites from back in the day and today - and get a load of the Bus!
