The interior is furnished with the finest handmade furniture and has not only a division between front and rear, but also a cabinet-made central console within the rear compartment, to house cocktail requisites, as well as a champagne cooler discretely hidden in the rear seat armrest.
The veneers used throughout the car are Rosewood Burr with Cabinet Cherry waistrails cross-banded in Oak and with a Boxwood inlay. Maintaining the subtle detailing that marks the difference between this motor car and others, the Spirit of Ecstasy is featured in exquisite marquetry on the waistrails. Rosewood was chosen because of its rare beauty but it is an extremely difficult wood to craft. Meeting their own exacting standards was a challenge, one which the specialists who fashion the interiors for Bentley Motors and Rolls-Royce Motor Cars at the famous Crewe, Cheshire factory in north-west England achieved faultlessly.
W H Park & C W Ward originally founded the Park Ward business in 1919. The great engineer Henry Royce took an interest in the firm and the companies worked together, developing among other innovations, a steel frame instead of wood for body construction. By 1930, 90 percent of Park Ward's business came from Rolls-Royce and its customers, which perhaps, led inevitably to them merging nine years later.
The coachbuilder's noble name was revived with the launch of the Silver Spirit-based Park Ward long wheelbase car and was enhanced in March 2000 at the Geneva Motor Show when the Silver Seraph-based Park Ward limousine was announced.
