A more obvious case of a driver taking an "unfair advantage" went unpunished at the Belgian grand prix a week ago, according to Red Bull Racing driver David Coulthard.

The F1 veteran claims in his new online column for the British broadcaster ITV that Force India's Adrian Sutil cut the top of Spa-Francorchamps' Eau Rouge corner on the first lap and then passed him at the next corner.

"I reported it over the radio, and (race director) Charlie Whiting told the team he was looking into it, but because there was no TV footage available, no action was taken -- not for the first time this year," Coulthard, 37, said.

The Scot made it clear, however, that he does not believe suggestions that the Lewis Hamilton controversy proves an anti-McLaren conspiracy.

He said: "At the end of the day the race stewards have a difficult job to do and sometimes they will make controversial or unpopular calls."
