An extremely interesting detail about the Brawn GP team
The administrator of the Brawn F1 blog has posted today very interesting news about the property of the surprising Brawn GP Team

“A friend was doing some research for reasons wholly unrelated to Formula 1 at companies house in the UK,” wrote the administration of the site.

He found some telling data for the Brawn GP team, along with other details (including it’s listed directors - Nick Fry as expected, but many other names).

Shareholders of Brawn GP:

Total shares issued: 200
Ross James Brawn: 89 shares
Honda Motor Company: 111 shares

So, according to this document Honda is still the majority owner of the team. So the team is not so much Brawn GP as Honda Brawn GP with Mercedes engines.

Apparently, Honda did not cut ties and run away…

The reasons for Honda’s “departure” in name only from Formula 1 was to do with the economic slump, but now the economy is slowly improving will Honda make a return? Will the Japanese giants once again begin pumping in the investment needed in the new era of budget capped F1, with a new Honda power plant in the back?

The lack of (to date) Virgin ownership is another possible sign that Honda are reluctant to let go of their 111 share controlling stake.”
