F1 team principals Ross Brawn (Brawn GP), Chritisan Horner (Red Bull Racing) and Bob Bell (Renault) have agreed on one thing: the British Grand Prix must stay and Bernie Ecclestone must do everything so to ensure it does.

All three principals are of the opinion that this Grand Prix represents one part of the heritage of Formula 1, one the sports can’t possibly go without.

Ecclestone and the BRDC are still discussing financial agreements over the possibility for Silverstone to take on the 2010 British Grand Prix as Donington failed to find support.

The veteran businessman would be too ambitious in his demands and as the GP is not state-funded like most are nowadays, it become difficult – if not impossible – for Silverstone to agree to anything F1 asks for.

“You have to consider the difference in resources available to the different circuits,” said Horner. “[The new Yas Marina Circuit in Abu Dhabi] has a nation behind it; Silverstone is effectively a private entity.

“I think Silverstone and the British Grand Prix is a very important and significant part of the calendar. It's a historic race, it's been there since the start of the world championship, it's a great circuit, the drivers love it and it's a local grand prix to probably more than fifty per cent of the teams,” he concluded.

Silverstone is under strict deadline to sign an agreement, or accept a 2010 season without Formula 1 in Britain, something Ecclestone has already said he would not mind about.

“The reason that F1 as a championship and as a series is so attractive to countries like Abu Dhabi and the new races we're going to is because of that heritage and that history, and if we destroy that, then perhaps we don't remain as attractive for countries in the future,” said Ross Brawn.

Bob Bell said he agree with his colleagues, adding that “one of the great strengths of F1 is its diversity.”
