Timo Glock will miss the Brasilian and probably the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix as it was discovered he suffers a cracked vertebrae, a direct result from his heavy crash in Suzuka’s walls in qualifying last week-end.

It was initially believed that a five centimetres cut on his left leg was the only injury sustained by the driver on Saturday in Japan. But further medical tests in Germany revealed this week a cracked vertebrae, an injury  far more serious that will prevent Glock from driving in Brazil.

"Obviously everyone in the team is very disappointed and feels for Timo," said Howett to autosport. "We wish him a very speedy recovery."

"Based on the initial diagnosis, we fully expected Timo to return in Brazil but unfortunately a different injury has been revealed which prevents that. He will remain in Germany to recover and we hope he can recuperate in time for Abu Dhabi, although at this stage the situation is not clear."

Reserve driver Kamui Kobayashi will be behind Glock’s wheel in Interlagos. It will be a first Grand Prix experience for the young recruit from GP2.
