Today was the third day of the private test sessions held in Hockenheim in preparation for the German Formula 1 Grand Prix. Ferrari driver Felipe Massa emerged fastest of the group.

Today's weather was perfect with a dry track, blue skies and a warm temperature of 29 degrees C. Teams proceeded to evaluate aero and mechanical set-ups of their cars, and also tested tires for Bridgestone.

Massa finished the day in first place ahead of the surprising Jenson Button (Honda) and Heikki Kovalainen (McLaren) who has replaced Lewis Hamilton at the wheel of the Mercedes-Powered McLaren.
