Formula 1's governing body confirmed on Wednesday the death of Alexander Mosley, Mosley's eldest of two sons of FIA president Max Mosley.

It was reported that Dr Mosley, a restaurateur and economist, was found dead on Tuesday afternoon by a relative in his West London home and could not be revived by paramedics.

"We were called at 16.20pm on Tuesday to reports of a male found dead at a property in W11 (Notting Hill)," said Metropolitan Police. "He was pronounced dead at the scene."

As a consequence, Max Mosley has cancelled his scheduled visit to the Spanish grand prix this weekend.

The 68-year-old was scheduled to appear at the Circuit de Catalunya for round five of the formula one world championship, but is now to remain in Britain to be with his family.
