According to a news published by British newspaper The Guardian, the inaugural Grand Prix of America in New Jersey scheduled for June 16, 2013 would now be in jeopardy.

The American race has been hit with problems since it was announced in October last year, and it received a major blow last August with the resignation of its president, Tom Cotter.

Formula 1 supremo Bernie Ecclestone told The Guardian: “They have not complied with the terms and conditions of the contract which is now gone anyway. They don't have a contract."

The 2013 Formula 1 schedule needs to be rubber stamped by the World Council of Motor Sport on September 28.

"We are pretty close to the final deadline," Ecclestone added. "We have got a World Council meeting coming up. I think if somebody got behind them it could happen in 2013 because they have come a long way with the circuit,” he added.

The race is supposed to be staged on a New Jersey street circuit which runs alongside the Hudson river with the York City historic skyline in the background.
