Red Bull, whose representatives were furious getting out of a technical meeting with Charlie Whiting this morning, have finally proven that they did not really need their blown exhaust to dominate this season... at least not in qualifying!

Mark Webber took the pole position ahead of this most anticipated British Grand Prix. His teammate and championship leader (by 77 points!) Sebastian Vettel settled in second position.

The Ferraris of Fernando Alonso and Felipe Massa followed in second row with only Jenson Button managing to get in the top-5 for McLaren, poor Lewis Hamilton getting only the 10th spot on the grid.

"I don't know where our pace has gone, but I can have a guess," said Jenson Button after a qualifying session that gave Ferrari team members at least one reason to smile.

An incredible performance for Force India driver Paul di Resta in changeable weather conditions as he settled in a solid 6th place for tomorrow's race.

Daniel Ricciardo will make his debut race at Hispania Racing this weekend in replacement of Narain Karthikeyan as he managed to qualify within the 107 per cent rule, but will start from the last position.

As the exhaust clampdown saga continues, it remains to be seen how much the Renault engines will suffer from the new rules during the race.
