On November 18, we posted a story from the Daily Telegraph about Honda apparently being the team with the highest budget in Formula 1. Reading the numbers more accurately change the story dramatically.
The story read: "While the actual total budget is undoubtedly higher, the Daily Telegraph reports that Honda, funded by the Japanese automobile giant, spent nearly $218 million to finish just eighth in the 2007 constructors' world championship."
The $218 million is correct. But it had to be known that Honda was founding at the time not one but two teams.
Honda Motor Company was running their own works team, Honda F1, as well as giving massive financial support to team Super Aguri as well as providing them with chassis, engines, transmissions, spare parts and personnel. That support to Super Aguri obviously had to be deducted from the total amount of $218 million.
