Here is an easy fix for a new Formula 1 team that dos not have a car, and a second team that has a car in running condition…
Here’s the current situation, less than two weeks prior to the opening round of the FIA Formula 1 World Championship. USF1 is on the entry list but doesn’t have a car. Stefan GP has a car, but has no entry for this year’s championship.
The solution, according to British journalist Adam Cooper, is to merge both organizations together.
According to Cooper, Chad Hurley (cofounder of YouTube and major shareholder of the USF1 team) and Serbian Zoran Stefanovich of Stefan GP are trying to put together a deal that will see the two teams join forces and make it to the first race in Bahrain.
Chad Hurley has apparently given up on pursuing a deal with Colin Kolles and Campos Meta.
Charlie Whiting, the Technical Delegate of the FIA, visited USF1 earlier this week and has provided the FIA a clearer picture of what is going on there, in Charlotte.
The Paris-based FIA may now be in a position to force the issue and perhaps give USF1’s bosses Ken Anderson and Peter Windsor no alternative but to strike a deal.
Cooper added that former Formula 1 World Champion Jacques Villeneuve is on standby and will be willing to sign up as teammate to Kazuki Nakajima, should the team get an entry.
Time is running out quickly.
