British Formula 1 driver Lewis Hamilton, member of the McLaren-Mercedes team, set today the fastest time around the Hungaroring during the free practice sessions of the Hungarian Grand Prix.
In the afternoon session, Hamilton set the fastest time ahead of the very surprising Nelson Piquet of the Renault Team. Piquet's car was fitted with super soft tires.
Heikki Kovalainen (McLaren) was 3rd, ahead of Piquet's teammate Fernando Alonso, also on super soft tires. Both McLarens were shod on soft tires that are a little harder.
