Once again Lewis Hamilton set the quickest time in both free practices sessions. Sebastian Vettel is second, followed by Nico Rosberg third, only 0.002 s quicker than Jenson Button fourth.
Red Bull's reliability woes continued though, with Mark Webber forced to park his car in the gravel at Turn 9 after less than half an hour. The team suspects an engine failure.
Michael Schumacher topped the timesheet for 30 seconds with his Mercedes GP before Lewis Hamilton set his best lap, the Germans was pushed down to fifth.
As usual during Friday practices sessions, Ferrari opted to spend the majority of the session running with heavy fuel and Fernando Alonso is seventh, behind Robert Kubica and Felipe Massa is 15th.
Two tests drivers were participating in the first free practice session, Paul di Resta with Force India and Fairuz Fauzy with Lotus.
Regarding the new teams, Lotus is again in front of Virgin and HRT.
