F1: More rumours about Stefan GP, Campos and USF1 teams

While most Formula 1 teams are currently testing their 2010 cars at Jerez in Spain, three new teams are fighting and wresting to make it to the grid for the opening race of the season in Bahrein.

Let’s review what’s going on:

Rumour 1: YouTube co-founder Chad Hurley would have left USF1.

Rumour 2: Colin Kolles would take control of the Campos team.

Rumour 3: Bruno Senna, who has signed a contract with Campos, is apparently not in a position bring the sponsorship promised and would be out of the frame for a drive.

Rumour 4: Chad Hurley would have met with businessman Jose Ramon Carabante to take over Campos team with Colin Kolles.

Fact: Indian Karun Chandhok has confirmed that he was not in discussion with Stefan GP to become the reserve driver. Chandhok could now go to the Campos-Kolles team.

Rumour 5: Former World Champion Jacques Villeneuve would be in talks with Zoran Stefanovic of Stefan GP. Bernie Ecclestone is apparently pushing hard to see five former World Champions on the grid this season: Michael Schumacher, Jacques Villeneuve, Lewis Hamilton, Fernando Alonso and Jenson Button.

Fact: Serbian Stefan GP is aiming to join the starting grid at the eleventh hour this season should any of the accepted entries fail to make the grade or to be accepted as a 14th team.

Rumour 6: Bernie Ecclestone would like to see two new teams in difficulty -- USF1 and Campos – merge so at least one could race in 2010.

Fact: Zoran Stefanovic confirmed Wednesday that Stefan GP is aiming at testing their cars (designed and built by Toyota Motorsport) at Portimao, Portugal, February 25 to 28.

Now it’s wait and see.
