Ferrari set to race 'shark fin' in Hungary
According to the Italian sports daily La Gazzetta dello Sport, Ferrari will debut in Hungary this weekend, the so-called 'shark fin' engine cover it tested at Jerez last week.

The newspaper said the concept, pioneered by the Red Bull teams and then copied at races by Renault and Force India, succeeded in improving the stability of the F2008, which is raced at grands prix by title contenders Kimi Raikkonen and Felipe Massa.

It is understood Ferrari intends to also use the shark-fin engine cover at Valencia late next month, but perhaps not at the following high-speed Spa and Monza circuits.

Valencia to host spectacular GP
"The circuit is incredible; for formula one it will be a real spectacle," Jaime Alguersuari, who races in British and Spanish F3 and earlier this year did some aerodynamic testing for Red Bull Racing, told the Spanish newspaper Diario AS.

"Urban layouts had never really been to my liking," he admitted, "but with its width and the high speed, it doesn't seem like (a street track). It is not often there are so many overtaking points, even at a permanent track," Alguersuari said.

Force India delays new gearbox until Valencia
Team Force India has opted to delay the introduction of its new seamless shift gearbox.

Technical boss Mike Gascoyne revealed on Tuesday that, despite the test's positive results, the team has decided not to race the seamless gearbox until Valencia, after the three-week August break.

It is true that, as Giancarlo Fisichella and Adrian Sutil's current gearboxes are only three races into their mandatory four-race cycle, debuting the new unit in Hungary would have accrued penalties.

Flavio Briatore tips Fernando Alonso to stay at Renault
Briatore today said he thinks Fernando Alonso will stay at Renault in 2009. "I think he'll stay," Briatore, the French outfit's team principal, told the latest edition of Italy's La Gazzetta dello Sport. "He is racing really well, he has missed out on many points. We have less than we deserve," the Italian added.

Briatore is among the chiefs of the ten formula one teams who are meeting at Maranello, the headquarters of the Ferrari team. "Formula one needs redesigning," he insisted, highlighting costs, the number of races, and the 'show' in general as the issues he wants to be discussed.
