McLaren's Jenson Button, Ferrari tester Giancarlo Fisichella and Lotus's Karun Chandhok are at the annual Moscow City Racing event right by the Kremlin walls this weekend.
At the same time, some 800 miles south of the capital city, Red Bull, Renault and Virgin will take on the Formula Sochi Festival for demonstration events in the host city of the first Russian Grand Prix, in 2014.
Formula 1's only Russian driver, Renault's own Vitaly Petrov, will take the 2010 R30 to the streets of Sochi while the R3n is in display in the city's harbour.
Another Russian linked team is Virgin, who is partly owned by Russian sports car makers Marussia Motors. Both Jerome D'Ambrosio and Timo Glock will participate to the demonstration on Sunday.
At Red Bull, Sebastian Vettel will visit the Sochi fans but it is his teammate Sebastian Buemi, from Toro Rosso, that will drive the car for the team.
