Reigning World Champion Kimi Raikkonen set the fastest time in both Free Practice sessions held today in preparation for the Grand Prix of Spain.
The driver of the Scuderia Ferrari set a time of 1'20.649 this morning, and a 1'21.935 as he worked on his race set-up, running on used tires and on full tanks.
However, the big news came from team Force India. The two Ferrari-powered Force India cars topped the charts during the first 40 minutes of the afternoon session. Giancarlo Fisichella and Adrian Sutil ran 1-2 ahead of some prestigious names such as Robert Kubica, Kimi Raïkkönen, Lewis Hamilton and Nick Heidfeld!
Team Renault also did well in Barcelona, placing Nelson Piquet and Fernando Alonso P2 and P3. However, local heroe Alonso must be furious to see his rookie teammate ahead of him...
McLaren's Lewis Hamilton set the 11th fastest time while his teammate Heikki Kovalainen completed a handful of laps before being stopped on the circuit with gearbox woes.
