Robert Kubica's teammate at Renault in 2010 is not likely to be a Frenchman, Eric Boullier has admitted.

The Enstone based team, recently taken over by Luxembourg based investment company Genii Capital, has installed the 36-year-old Frenchman as its new permanent boss.

But Boullier told French radio RMC that none of his countrymen are high on the list of potential teammates for the 25-year-old Pole Kubica.

Boullier's comments are a blow to Romain Grosjean, the Swiss born Frenchman who completed the 2009 season for Renault and had hoped to retain the seat this season.

He said the shortlist for the second cockpit has been recently reduced from ten to just five drivers.

"There are several possible scenarios, one of them French," said Boullier. "But, today, that is the scenario with perhaps the least chance of success."

He said earlier this week that Kubica's teammate could be "a Gravity driver", or one of those from within the stable of the Genii-linked driver management outfit Gravity Sport, such as Ho-Pin Tung or Jerome d'Ambrosio.

Eric Boullier told RMC: "We have made progress but are still far from being able to disclose the (driver's) name."
