It's now official, the famous engineer who designed the seven title's cars of Michael Schumacher will help the Scuderia Ferrari with the development of the next year's single-seater.
The South African was spotted at the launch of the new F138 at the Maranello factory. Ferrari confirmed this weekend that Rory Byrne will be involved in the 2014 project.
Reuters reports that with the major rules changes and the new engine coming in next season, Ferrari had to sep tup two separate design teams to work on the F138 and the next year's car.
Fabio Montecchi is leading the 2014 design project and Simone Resta works on the F138 for this season.
Retired from Formula 1 since end of 2006, Rory Byrne remained involved as a consultant in various Ferrari road cars projects.
