Renault could be set to race a dramatically altered livery at the last two grands prix of the 2009 season.
With title sponsor ING departing in the wake of the crash-gate scandal, the French squad is currently using only a slightly altered version of its original yellow, orange, white and red livery for the R29.
Formula 1 rules dictate that liveries must remain essentially the same throughout the complete season, but a major change would be permitted with the unanimous support of all other competing teams.
It is rumoured that a possible new livery for the final Brazil and Abu Dhabi rounds could be Renault's traditional yellow and black, as seen - but not raced - on a modern F1 car when the marque was celebrating 30 years on the grid in 2007 (photo).
Hinting at Renault's desire for a livery change are the colour modifications to other areas of the team since ING's withdrawal. For example, the prominent orange - synonymous with the departed Dutch bank - has been removed from the base design of the drivers' suits.
It is also believed the plain team clothing used at Suzuka last weekend was a mere temporary solution ahead of a wholesale re-think for the last two races of 2009.
