The Sahara Force India Formula 1 team announced Friday that Frenchman Jules Bianchi has joined the team as its reserve driver for the 2012 season.
The 22-year-old driver will be integrated in the team’s programme and will participate in a minimum of nine Friday practice sessions during Grand Prix weekends.
In preparation for the 2012 season, Bianchi will get his first run in the VJM05 during the winter test session next month.
Bianchi is a member of the Ferrari Driver Development Program, and the Sahara Force India F1 cars are powered by Mercedes engines.
