Reigning Formula 1 driver Sebastian Vettel expects to see drivers to pit three or even four times during the Grands Prix this season due to the rapid degradation of the new Pirelli tires.

Pirelli has said several times that it has designed its tires to wear out quicker than last year's Bridgestone, with two-stop strategies the main goal.

In an interview provided by the Red Bull Racing team, Vettel said, “The tires are very different to last year. But, then again, it’s the same for everybody.

“I think we will see that racing will change, one stop is impossible, also two stops so it will be at least three or four stop races.

“I think it will make it very interesting, the question is if it is a good thing for us or a bad thing. I think it’s hard to say now because obviously we need to get going first and see how the races unfold.”

Later during the interview, the young German said he is also hoping the moveable rear wings (Drag Reduction Systems) and the KERS will not make overtaking too artificial.

“I just hope it doesn’t make overtaking too easy, because then it would make the racing artificial,” said Vettel.
