Sebastian Vettel proved once again that he was the one to beat in Shanghai as he took the pole position for the Grand Prix of China in his RB6 car.

In fact, the Red Bull drivers conquered the first row as Mark Webber took the second starting position for Sunday's race, only two tenth of a second away from his young teammate.

Fernando Alonso remains a contender for victory in Shanghai with a third spot on the grid. His time of 1:34.913 was 0.107 seconds slower than Webber's, but much better than the one of his Ferrari teammate who took the 7th spot on the grid.

Nico Rosberg took fourth, only a tenth of a second slower then Alonso, but more than a half second faster than his popular teammate (0.723). Schumacher will start in 9th.

Lewis Hamilton, despite setting the pace throughout the initial segments of qualifying, did nothing better than a 6th position, behind his teammate and defending champion Jenson Button.

Sebastian Vettel later admitted that he is expecting rain on Sunday, which would add to the show. "It will rain, the only question is when," said the Red Bull driver after qualifying.

The 22-year-old German warned that his team is "well armed" for either dry or wet weather. Meanwhile, Button hinted that his car would "probably be better on wet conditions".
