Frenchman Sébastien Bourdais, the former four-time Champ Car series’ champion has admitted it will be difficult for him to find another race seat in formula one.
The 30-year-old Frenchman was ousted by Toro Rosso after last month's German grand prix, but he told the sports daily L'Équipe that he has not yet given up on staying in F1.
"Considering there is no testing, I could be an interesting choice for one of the new teams," said Bourdais, referring to US F1, Campos, Manor, and an unknown thirteenth team for 2010 to replace BMW-Sauber.
He admitted however that the withdrawal of BMW, meaning that Robert Kubica and Nick Heidfeld are also on the market, is a complication to his chances.
Bourdais said his chances of contesting Le Mans in the future are good. "I am under contract with Peugeot until the end of the year, and they seemed content with my work at Le Mans.
"As for the United States, I always kept up contact with my team," said Bourdais, referring to the Newman-Haas outfit that races in the IndyCar series.
He added: "The problem is they need money to run another car. Five million euros is not easy to find at the moment."
